Focusing on The Cord of Three

Focusing on the cord of three

In the last several days God has been working on me about the cord of three.  I have to tell you Jason and I had an awesome weekend this last weekend.  We were part of the presenting team for Marriage Encounter in McPherson, KS.  It was powerful to see the work God did in so many of the marriages there.  We have been on an interesting journey as God has revived our marriage and moved us into a season of purely focusing on what Marriage looks like in our culture and what God intended for it to be.  I think the one thing that he has spoke to me over and over  this week is simply, the foundation of marriage.  The Cord of Three:
Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. ~ Ecc. 4:12
God is faithful to stand in the gap with us for our marriages.  I was so impressed with the ways a cord is woven.  Just as The God-Head is comprised of three parts: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit the Foundation of marriage in covenant marriage is the earthly model of the original church, in the flesh:  Father God, husband and wife.  God made this bond the strongest bond in human existence.  We are called to cherish this bond.  He speaks about the intimacy in marriage.  "The two shall become one flesh". We can also take this to mean that because of covenant marriage there is not greater prayer prayed than that of a husband praying for his wife or a wife praying for her husband.  In context what I am saying is that no one can pray for your spouse the way you can, because no one knows your spouse like you do!  You and God know the combination to your spouses code, so to speak!  And that my friends is a beautiful thing.....

Committed

This is the day where I stood before God in all my nakedness (not literally), because just as Adam and Eve stood naked, our hearts and souls are naked before God. There is no part of our being, our thoughts, our emotions that he cannot see and does not understand.  I stood before him today and took the first step to the rest of my life.  I am crossing over from the land of living in semi-comfort into the land of the unknown, I am stepping over into the land of God's perfect will for my life.  This is the day where I begin to define just how committed I am!

There are parts of my testimony that are still a little scary even to me!  How do you share the heart of who God is to you, I questioned?  How do you help people to see that the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the book of Daniel, was not just a story but a vision of sorts that God revealed, it was a place marker in a chapter of my life that God did send an angel to walk in the fiery furnace with me!  It is the place where God called me by name and said, "Rechelle, you are mine!"  He called me "daughter".  He declared his love for me and my life has been forever changed!

In the bible there is the scripture that Says, "Come and follow me and I will make you fishers of men!"  When that was read to me I took it literally.  I guess when the Bible says that God is no respecter of person's I took him at his word.  So there I was knowing that God wanted to use my life to impact the lives of others.  As I got older I shied away from the call.  With my personality being the one who is always the voice of reason becomes lame or even annoying with teens, as I got into college I just ran as fast and as far as I could.  I guess the one thing you cannot count on having as a college student is wisdom or forsight.  Had I stopped and thought about it I would have realized you cannot out run God.  He knows where you are going, the route you will take to get there and once you have arrived he will be there waiting to bring you back!  To redeem you!  To call you out of the pit!

1 Corinthians 10:13
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

I wonder if any of you have had those times in life when the current situation was one of extreme discomfort.  How did God bring you through?  How did you show your commitment to Christ and to serve in whatever he asked of you?
