Focusing on The Cord of Three

Focusing on the cord of three

In the last several days God has been working on me about the cord of three.  I have to tell you Jason and I had an awesome weekend this last weekend.  We were part of the presenting team for Marriage Encounter in McPherson, KS.  It was powerful to see the work God did in so many of the marriages there.  We have been on an interesting journey as God has revived our marriage and moved us into a season of purely focusing on what Marriage looks like in our culture and what God intended for it to be.  I think the one thing that he has spoke to me over and over  this week is simply, the foundation of marriage.  The Cord of Three:
Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. ~ Ecc. 4:12
God is faithful to stand in the gap with us for our marriages.  I was so impressed with the ways a cord is woven.  Just as The God-Head is comprised of three parts: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit the Foundation of marriage in covenant marriage is the earthly model of the original church, in the flesh:  Father God, husband and wife.  God made this bond the strongest bond in human existence.  We are called to cherish this bond.  He speaks about the intimacy in marriage.  "The two shall become one flesh". We can also take this to mean that because of covenant marriage there is not greater prayer prayed than that of a husband praying for his wife or a wife praying for her husband.  In context what I am saying is that no one can pray for your spouse the way you can, because no one knows your spouse like you do!  You and God know the combination to your spouses code, so to speak!  And that my friends is a beautiful thing.....
