Free At Last......

"Free at last, I'm free at last! Thank God All Mighty we are free at last"

- Martin Luther King Jr.

How many of us have heard that historical speech?  How many of us have reveled in the knowing that we have been set free from something?  I love King's speech declaring being free at last!  As I was spending my quiet time today I distinctly heard the voice of God telling me to go to 2 Corinthians.  I spent sometime reading most of the book!  It is a wonderful motivator!  It is a sure sign that God is moving in the body of Christ in Paul's day..... But for me today God pointed out, 2 Corinthians 6: 14 "Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?"

Over the last several months God and I have been on a spiritual journey to be totally set free. Just as it is in anything else sometimes getting free of bondage takes time.... not because God can't set us free immediately, because he most certainly can.  It is often because we  as humans often have to learn how to walk upright in that freedom!  WOW!..... That was tough for me to swallow.  I wanted so bad the gift of being set free, but God knew I wasn't ready to walk in it daily, moment by moment.  So instead he and set me on a course to seek him more, to seek what he had for me! To seek his presence, his perfect will to a place in my life that was difficult for me but ooooohhhh so necessary!  I am happy to tell you that through prayer, studying scripture, the laying on of hands, time in God's presence and a book that was a wonderful tool I am closer than I ever thought I could be.

I don't know how many of you have personal life baggage that you carry into each new year of your life, or each new relationship, but for me I needed to be able to lay down all of my past and never allow the devil to drum it back up to harass me with it.  This idea for most is easier said than done!  I have spent years working on generational curses only to find myself right back in the middle of the pit had just climbed out of!  Well no more.  I have been reading "Shadow Boxing" by Dr. Henry Malone.  It has been the much needed tool along with God's word and his gentle hand to lead me through and out of this bondage forever!

I love what God's word continues to say in 2 Corinthians 6: 16-18

16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?  For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will live with them
    and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”

 17 Therefore,

“Come out from them
    and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
    and I will receive you."

18 And,“I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”
